Common Scams to Avoid
Unlicensed drivers at the official taxi rank sometimes pose as legitimate taxis, using altered meters or quoting inflated flat rates to central Lyon. Only use taxis from the clearly marked queue with illuminated rooftop signs and insist the meter is reset at the start of your journey.
Shared shuttle services operating from unofficial desks inside the terminal advertise door-to-door service but may add unexpected per-passenger surcharges charges or drop passengers at distant locations. Book only through the official shuttle counter in the arrivals hall and confirm the total cost and destination before boarding.
Currency exchange booths near baggage claim offer poor rates and may apply hidden commission fees not clearly displayed. Use ATMs from major French banks within the terminal or wait to exchange money in the city center where competition provides better rates.
